2023 Christmas Card

Merry Christmas from The Waltmans

It’s been another roller coaster ride of a year! We are definitely missing Mom this holiday season, so everything is a little askew, but she would have been the first to treasure the small joys and wonder of the season! And, we are treasuring so many joys this year! We are enjoying every moment of Noelle growing from a baby into an independent little person! Lolli & Pop are loving every moment as this little one turns 3 on New Year’s Eve!

Jordan also reached a milestone this year, officially an adult, turning 21 in April! She continues to study for the Sonogram Entrance Exam and work toward a science degree. We are so proud of her academic achievement of a 4.0 year. She is finding her creative outlet with holiday decorating and crocheting. She continues to spread joy, noticing and complimenting the best in others. She and Bryce are carving out time to spend together, even with such busy schedules, as he began his career at Entergy and renovates his house.

Megan is continuing to teach math at Mayfair Lab School, loving the staff and teacher friends, even if 6th & 7th graders can be challenging! She has breathed new life into Naneen & Big Bob’s house, making it into a haven for her little family to thrive. It was lovely to host the Waltman Christmas gathering there again this year! Noelle continues to impress us with her smarts and bright smile! She asks about her daddy who is “in Heaven with Great Grandma now." So, we all tell her the stories so she can know him more and more as she grows up.

An amazing reminder of Josh’s legacy was completed this year. We were honored to attend the dedication of the Joshua D. Perry Prayer Garden at Louisiana Christian University (Louisiana College).

Charlie and Wynne continue to invite visitors to experience the most interesting and delicious state in the nation! We’ve even been able to travel together and promote tourism on the road. Jordan even got to tag along on a few trips. It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it! Wynne is also experiencing the rewarding job of promoting the good work done by Louisiana Healthcare Connections, a humbling experience, getting to meet some of the nicest people around.

We've also met several new friends at events celebrating royalty as King REW reigns over the Krewe of Romany!

Wynne’s emotional support dog, Daisy, is still doing her job – posted at a lap near you. She is being called “miracle dog” after Vet reports no new tumors and fine blood work, 6 months after being diagnosed with a month or two to live!

We are definitely reminded of our many blessings of provision and how truly fortunate we are, and praying for God’s redemption of the world around us. The welcoming of new babies is a great reminder of all that is good in life! We welcomed Erin Scioneaux and Charlotte Grob into the Waltman clan, and they are definitely bringing new joy to Kay “Honey” O’Brien as she enjoys fussing over a new set of “twins.” We know Richard, Naneen and Big Bob are smiling down on them. Naneen has even more reason to smile as we found a home for her 1955 Krewe of Hermes Ball gown with an exhibit at the Louisiana State Museum. The digitally restored video can be seen here

We officially welcomed Dason into the Day family as he and Lainy were married this summer; hosting the ceremony nearby, so that Mom could be a part of the happy day!

Our neighbors have also become a new little family to us as we celebrate the ups and downs of life together. It’s weird to be the old people on the block, but we are enjoying watching the kids and grandkids grow!

As we hustle and bustle to prep Christmas dinner for our grown children, gathering back around our table, we’re definitely reflecting over all the blessings in our life - of loved ones near and departed, good health, the ability to travel, and a God, who wrapped himself into a baby and came as the greatest gift of all!

Spend time hugging your loved ones a little closer, enjoying the moments of quiet reflection and all of the small joys. As my Mom used to say, “it’s going to be okay.” And it always is.

Merry Christmas and much love!

Charlie, Wynne, Jordan, Megan & Noelle

And Daisy!
